What Your Doctors Are Taught !

Medical Universities teach diverticular disease (diverticulosis and diverticulitis) is a disease of inflammation. I am not a doctor or a nutritionist, but I believe this inflammation in diverticular disease patients is caused by something very simple... too much acid.

What is different about Mike’s theory?

If Mike’s idea is correct, then the way people eat in the U.S., U.K., A.U., and CAN, could be the actual cause of the over-acidification and inflammation... the root of diverticulitis. Over-acidification may be the cause of inflammation, and inflammation may cause virtually every symptom of diverticulitis, from bloating, throat and esophageal scaring, bathroom problems, and belly pain. In other words, if Mike’s theory is correct, diet modification may be the secret weapon everyone else has missed.

What Causes Diverticulitis?

I Ask you: “What reaches the colon that causes inflammation (the main symptom of diverticulitis)?

Here is an example to help you picture what’s happening inside your body.

Imagine a man with hay fever, who also mows lawns daily. Eventually he will have breathing issues, inflammation, and asthma from continued exposure to the allergen. His Inflammation is caused by overdoing or repeating anything that aggravates tissue. You can see what our landscaper is doing wrong. If some foods and food combinations aggravate the colon or increase acid flow, you can see how this might cause inflammation. Diverticulitis is inflammation.

What enters the stomach that may be the cause? This Section is Everything!

Some other acid related disorders are GERD, heartburn, acid reflux, Crohn’s, colitis, IBD, IBS and celiac disease, to name a few. All these diseases have one thing in common: acid. Acid, in excess, can corrode anything… even steel. Certainly, in excess, it can corrode the mucosal lining (the colon's protective armor). Inflammation in the colon may lead to infection (attacks and flare-ups). It may also thin the colon lining allowing diverticula to form. Some medical studies agree that digestive conditions are related to stomach acid.

Nothing is actually wrong with the occasional use of stomach acid to digest food, but the preferable form of digestion is a mix of bile, enzyme, and acid (acid being the least preferable). In my opinion, too much acid damages delicate tissues like the esophagus, throat, intestinal cilia stomach valves, and the mucosal lining of the colon (all the acid problems are avoided when we predominantly digest with enzymes).

Yes, the digestive tract is designed to tolerate acid but today we eat so many acid causing "catalyst" meals daily, that instead of enzyme digestion 90% of the time (as I think it should be), we digest almost all meals with hydrochloric acid.  This, in my opinion is the entire problem and cause of almost all digestive disorders. PS: This is my theory based on my research. I do not claim that the medical community agrees.

Using a decade of research I believe that the modern Western style of eating forces our bodies to produce excess stomach acid with each meal. The proof is heartburn, acid reflux, and/or colon inflammation and pain. So much acid that it bubbles up our throats and is burning through our colon's mucosal lining.

This is why millions take antacids every day. Acid is bloating us, ulcerating us, burning our throats and stomachs and inflaming our colons and yet everyone is missing that it might be the actual cause of diverticulitis.
